Conrad Fielding Ashworth

Conrad Fielding Ashworth was born in Rugby, Warwickshire on 19 April 1912.

He was the son of William and Agnes Ashworth, of 29 Elm Street, Bradshaw.

The family removed to Scotland (probably in 1926), having previously come to Bolton from Derbyshire.

Conrad was educated at Derbyshire County Schools, Chellaston, near Derby. He attended Bolton Church Institute from 14 September 1922 (Prep 3) to 31 March 1926 (3L).

He married Annie MacDonald in Hammersmith, London in 1939.

 

Conrad's War

Conrad served as a Lance Corporal in the 8th Battalion, Royal Scots and participated in the liberation of Europe.

He died on 3 December 1944 following the liberation of Venray in the Netherlands by Allied troops in October 1944.
