William Boyes

William had one sister, Phyllis Boyes, who was born in 1922.
Bill attended Bolton Church Institute between 1933 and 1938 (VI Form) and played football for the school 1st XI in his final two years.

Airman Killed In India
Sergt-Nav. William K [sic] Boyes (22) RAF, 5, Hope-ave, Bolton, has been killed in India. He joined the Forces in October 1941, and was previously employed by Bradshaw, Gass, and Hope, architects, Silverwell-st, Bolton, and was an ex-chorister of Bolton Parish Church. Sergt. Boyes had attended the Church Institute. He was one of the first to enlist in the old LDV, and became a member of the Bolton Home Guard.
